The North Rhine- Westphalian State Stud can look back on a history longer than 190 years.Breeders in Westphalia and the province of Rhine requested the state stud and so it was founded in 1826. Nowadays it is assigned to the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection.

The duty of the State Stud hasn’t changed since it’s foundation. It is to provide qualitative and genetically interesting stallions to the horse breeders. Ultimate ambition is the breeding progress. The German Ridingschool is the centre for professional riders from all over the country. Thousands of spectators are thrilled every year by events like the Warendorfer Hengstparaden and the Symphonie der Hengste.
